In order to submit a document written in a foreign language to Russian official agencies, you will need to translate it and get the translation notarised. You will also need to get the translation notarised when preparing documents for legalisation or the issuance of an Apostille. Under Russian legislation, a notary certifies the correctness of a translation from one language into another, if he has a command of the languages in question. If the notary does not have a command of those languages, he certifies the authenticity of the translator’s signature.
Your document can also be certified by the stamp of the translation agency, which has legal force in the courts, visa-and-registration departments and customs offices.
